About

As anyone in my area knows and surely everyone else
is aware - Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc upon
everything in its path.  The recovery has started,
but many are still without basic utilities in their
homes - and those are the lucky ones.  Many homes were
destroyed and even more tragically, lives were lost.

I wrote a song, Rise, in my cold dark basement while
waiting for power to be restored.  While it captures
some of the emotion of the storm and its aftermath, I
chose to take it in a more uplifting direction.  If I
could lift one spirit from the despair brought by this
storm, I though, I would consider the song a success.
I've received messages from my original posting on
YouTube letting me know I've accomplished that goal.
I then decided to take it one step further.

On Friday, November 9th, 2012: just shy of 2 weeks
after the storm, I found a studio that still had power
and recorded the song with full instrumentals.  In
keeping with my uplifting intentions, I put as much
positive energy as possible into the production -
without undermining the authenticity of the song.

The single is available for download on iTunes, among
many other digital music providers, for 99 cents.
All proceeds will go towards the recovery effort -
ensuring all areas, including but not limited to,
the Jersey Shore; Breezy Point, Queens; and Staten
Island; are benefited.

Again, every last cent I receive from this song will
be donated.  I will not recoup the recording or
distribution fees.  I chose a music service that
allows me to keep 100% of the royalties given
by the digital distributors.

Please download the song and more importantly, share
it.  If you can aford to spare the real estate on
your Facebook page, it will help to reach as many
people as possible.  Yours and your friends' 99 cents
will go a long way.  And if you or someone you know
suffered as a result of Hurricane Sandy, or any
natural disaster for that matter, it might
help to alleviate some of that pain - even if just
for 3 minutes and 16 seconds.

Much love,

Casey

The wind had blown the door off as the car sank in the drive.
With windows shaking, no mistaking we were happy just to be alive.

Rise up above the water, rise above the tide.
Waves can take the things outside you,
but they will never touch what's inside.

Gas was leaking, walls were creaking, and power had long been gone.
Water everywhere but it should be and no place for us to move on.

Rise up above the water, rise above the tide.
Waves can take the things outside you,
but they will never touch what's inside.

Don't worry, hold on tight now, this too soon shall pass.
Nothing this temporary permanently lasts.

- huddled near the candle as we waited for the news -
- flickers of our faces held together as we tried to make it through -

Rise up above the water, rise above the tide.
Waves can take the things outside you,
but they will never touch what's inside.
